The ballots have been tallied, and the results are officially in. After weeks of high-energy campaigning across the Van Ness and Lamond-Riggs campuses, the University of the District of Columbia has revealed its student leaders for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year.

2026-27 USGA President and VP Toluwalase Adetosoye & Akilah Hanson

Leading the Undergraduate Government Association (USGA) are Toluwalase Adetosoye and Akilah Hanson. Running on a powerful “Building the Brand” platform, the duo aims to elevate the professional profile of the UDC student body.

2026-27 USGA Secretary Peta-Gaye Scott

Joining them in the executive cabinet is Peta-Gaye Scott, elected as USGA secretary. Scott, the chapter president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., launched a creative “How to Get Away with Impact” campaign that resonated with students seeking administrative transparency.

The 9th Mister University of the District of Columbia, Sheval Porter

The Royal Court also sees a seasoned transition of power. The newly elected Mister UDC, Sheval Porter, is no stranger to the crown. A member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Fall ’24), Porter has climbed the ranks from Mister Freshman (2023-24) to Royal Escort (2024-25), and most recently, Mister Firebird (2025-26).

The 47th Miss University of the District of Columbia, Esdrizabeth Cuello

Alongside him stands the new Miss UDC, Esdrizabeth Cuello. Cuello, the outgoing Miss Junior and captain of the UDC cheerleading squad, also recently celebrated becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. last week.

Percy Henry III, The Director of Student Life and Services

“The caliber of leadership we saw during this election cycle was truly exceptional,” said Percy Henry III, Director of Student Life and Services. “These students didn’t just ask for votes; they presented visions. I am confident that this cohort of leaders will continue to foster a vibrant campus culture that prioritizes both academic excellence and community service.”

As the current administration prepares to hand over the reins, the newly elected leaders are already gearing up for summer planning sessions to ensure a seamless transition for the Fall 2026 semester.
